Veteran kills morale as the pupil of Favre avoids Dallas D

A defensive battle until the fourth quarter led to an exciting finish and one of the few upsets of the weekend. This game could have damaged the Packers chance of making the playoffs significantly if they didn’t come to play. On the other hand the Dallas Cowboys came to take a commanding lead in the NFC East. Dallas might have been a little too confident from their past victory over the Eagles; that at the end of this game it left the Cowboys looking at themselves for answers. Dallas couldn’t get any form of offense going throughout the game. The disrupter on D for the Packers was veteran Charles Woodson who dominated the passing options for Romo and getting involved in nearly every play. The Pack executed and produced when it counted bringing their record to 5-4.

The skill of Aaron Rodgers put up points for the Pack. Rodgers is on pace to get sacked 66 times this year; however, he continues to keep composed and get the job done. 17 TDs and only 5 INTs under the pressure he has been under is remarkable. Some wish that Favre remained in Green Bay to end his career, in spite of this desire of the diehard fans; the Pack has found their franchise in Rodgers.

Of course the Packers never would have upset the Cowboys without the extreme effort put up by Charles Woodson. Forcing two fumbles, picking off a for sure touchdown pass to Jason Witten, collecting eight tackles and bringing Romo down for a sack. Woodson’s legs and decision making skills looked as fresh as his rookie year with the Raiders, jumping in front of Witten and stealing the air from each Cowboy fan in the stadium and those who were watching from home. At 33 years of age with 12 of those in the NFL, the wolverine Alumni looks like he is still in his prime.

The Packers were in grave need for this win. After losing to their heated rivals the Vikings, they came to Tampa Bay to revenge their loss and were turned away with a two game losing streak and giving the Bucs the first win of their horrific season. The must win game for the Packers fell on each player as their sole duty. Motivated with strong obligation they took control of the game and showed their fans they can embrace a post-season berth if they can keep up this play.

Beware of the Packers new 3-4 defense they fashioned over the off-season allowing 17.9 points per game and Rodgers leading his offense to just over 23 PPG. Look for the Pack to continue to have success down the road. Their schedule is stiff; nevertheless, this is a team not to be overlooked. Or their future opponents will find the same fate as the Dallas.
