And the trip to Miami goes to…Saints vs. Vikings NFC Championship Game Recap This was the game that everyone was waiting for (with the exception of Colts vs. Saints). We all, as football fans, wanted to see this epic match-up between to great quarterbacks, Brees and Favre. We have all heard about Minnesota, with the 40 year old at the helm, the exceptional running game, and the talented defensive line. What can you say about the Saints, one of the most explosive offenses’ in the NFL, with a corps of receivers that are second-to-none. This was most definitely a match for the ages and the game really did live up to the hype. This game was a fast moving game, where defense was hard to find. The Vikings started off the fireworks with a 10 play drive as Adrian Peterson ran it in from 19 yards out for a touchdown. The Saints struck back with a pass from Brees to Pierre Thomas for a 38 yard touchdown to tie the game. The Vikings came back with a pass to Sydney Rice from Favre it was a 5 yard touchdown pass putting the Vikings up 14-7 and that was just the 1 st quarter. In the start of the second New Orleans came out gunning as they drove 64 yards and Devery Henderson caught a 9 yard pass from Brees and once again the game was tied. The Vikings had trouble all day hanging on to the ball, they fumbled many times in the game, and in the 3 rd quarter the Saints made them pay, Thomas had a 9 yard touchdown run putting them in front. Just as this type of game should be the Vikings strike back, Adrian Peterson takes the ball in for a 1 yard touchdown and again we are tied. The Saints and Vikings both added a touchdown in the fourth quarter, Reggie Bush for the Saints and Adrian Peterson for the Vikings (his 3 rd on the day). That will send us to overtime and the Saints got the ball and thy never gave the ball up, Garrett Hartley hits the game winning 40 yard field goal, Saints 31, Vikings 28 and the Saints are going to Miami.
This sets up the clash of the Titans, this is the match-up we have all wanted to see all season long and we finally will get it. The Colts, with the original field general and that speedy defense will face the Saints and their gun-slinging quarterback and the ball hawking defense to see each other in Miami on February 7 th. The Vikings played a great game, there were many things that didn’t go there way and many mistakes that they made with the ball. In the end the Saints are headed to their first Super Bowl, so you know all of New Orleans will be rocking every night leading up to the Super Bowl. Let’s just see if they are still rocking the night of the Super Bowl.
