Pittsburgh Steelers vs. Kansas City Chiefs Recap

Steelers hats & merchandise

I think the Pittsburgh offense needs a plunger to unclog the funk they’re in.

And speaking of smelly funk, I am getting sick and tired of this:

Jamaal Charles 97 kickoff return! (Succup kick)

Kansas City 7, Pittsburgh 0! 16 seconds into the game!

Like I said in previous posts, the special teams coach Bob Ligashesky better have his desk cleared out. 4 kick off returns for TD’s in like a month? Are you kidding me?

On paper the Steelers dominated but the Kansas City Chiefs got the most out of a little:

  • Only 13 first downs

  • 1 for 3 in the Red Zone

  • Got 3 Turnovers from Steelers

  • Got 8 penalties for 85 yards from Pittsburgh

  • Overcame 5 sacks by the Steelers

  • The Steelers on defense have a great numbers but the secondary looked silly on a few too many plays and possessions. Tackling at times was an adventure also.

Ben had monster numbers in many ways. 2 INT’s will often kill you! The one pick driving for another score and a 17 to 14 lead was devastating. Not too mention 27 points from 398 passing yards is hard to swallow for me. The Steelers had 515 yards of offense for crying out loud. That should be good for 35 - 40 points in my opinion. Add the fact that they held the ball for 44: minutes and 7 seconds.

Again the stats look great. But they didn’t capitalize and they didn’t close the deal. They let the Chefs,( I typed it wrong on purpose) , hang around.

Ben got his bell rung in OT to add salt to the wound. Also the news of Troy Polamalu is going to be out for a month. Which is part of the problem with the defense to begin with. I had given Mike Tomlin a lot of credit for what I thought had been big strides in the secondary. But there are unexplainable lapses that need to be addressed.

THE CHIEFS STINK and they still do! Thank goodness the Bengals choked to the even worse Raiders. And Baltimore and Cleveland went down in flames. Wasn’t a good day for the AFC NORTH!

The bottom line is there is nothing more humiliating than losing a game you dominated!
