Getting after the cowardly Lions

Steelers hats & merchandise

Okay we are all thinking it so let's just get out in the open. This is bye week 1a. Yes the Detroit Lions finally broke the 0 – for and got a win and yes they have looked as good as they have looked in ....... who knows when they last almost looked like an NFL team? But you get the point.

Frankly, this is a great situation to build off of last week. And I pray with all my might that they do not dare over look the lowly cowardly Lions, because I do not want to have to leap to my death Sunday evening!

Here's the deal. #1 the Steelers get to return to the turf they beat the Seahawks on in 2005. The remnant of Super Bowl smell should get the blood boiling. Better yet is the newly released model of the balanced offense showcased last week vs. San Diego?

Give me nice mix of Ben mixing up 27- 32 pass to Ward (5), Holmes (3), Miller (4), Wallace (2), Moore (2), Spaeth (1), and Mendenhall (1). That's 18 completions if you’re doing the math. Somewhere in there I want 3 TD passes.

This is too be combined with 25 – 30 carries. Mendenhall (20), Parker (3), Moore (2), and maybe short yardage carry or 2 from Davis or whoever Arians picks. I would like to see 2 TD's from a running back. I want to see about 150+ yards on the ground also.

I don't want to see Jeff Reed kick a field goal. These are the Lions for crying out loud. So I think you know where I am going here. This is a feel good game in my opinion, a game to right the ship, atone for your past sins, pad the stats, and practice execution. Yes I want to see 35 or more points!

“35 to what?” you may ask. “35 to 6” I reply.

Yes the defense has been below the Steelers standards especially without Polamalu. This is the week you rattle the Rookie Stafford and welcome him to the world of elite defense. You crush what little running they can do led by Kevin Smith. Yeah that's right, who? Take his 3.2 a carry and make him re-think his career choice. Matthew Stafford needs to know how many ceiling tiles there are in Ford Field so put him on his back so he can get a good long look.

Give me something like holding to 25 rushing yards and a 9 for 28 passing day for Stafford and 2 INT's.

Am I asking too much? Under the circumstances I don't think I am. You are the defending Super Bowl champs trying to re-establish your rhythm and actually improve in rushing efficiency. And you are playing a team that has won 1 out of their last 20 games! And then you add the fact that they are in or near the bottom of all defensive rankings.

The golden rule of top-notch football teams is to pound teams you should beat. Do not give them any reason to think they can compete with you.

Time to play 60 minutes of mistake free and penalty free football also. We’re in game 5 now so it's time to raise the bar for World Champions.

Okay, okay I am getting a little carried away with my desire for world domination. Yes I do believe that the Steelers can blow the doors off of the Lions but I realize this is the big boy league and this is a long season. SO let's juts get through this next one.

Injury wise: Overall pretty healthy team

Polamalu is out

Andre Frazier (LB) – probable

Chris Kemoatu (G) – probable

Willie Parker (RB) - ?

Limas Sweed (WR) – dropped < just kidding, get it ....dropped?

Lions injuries? - Who cares? Would it really matter?
