Who do you build your team around?

Building that football dynasty

When we talk about football dynasty there are many teams that come to mind, Pittsburgh Steelers of old with Bradshaw, Harris, Swann and that amazing defense or how about the 49ers of the 80’s with Montana, Rice, and Taylor and don’t forget the Dallas Cowboys of the 90’s with Aikman, Irvin, and Smith and just recently the Patriots with Brady, Bruschi, and Brown. These teams all had one thing in common they had a foundation and in this day and age in pro sports that is what it takes to win championships. We have all seen the formula in the NFL get a solid quarterback, a quality receiver (with some key veterans around them) and have a true captain that makes the defense stout. So if I gave you three picks from anyone in the league what three players would you choose? Who would be your cornerstone for franchise? So in this article we will explore the possibility of having a franchise and having those three picks to get your team going. We will give you our three picks and give you reasons why we think these guys would be keys to getting your NFL franchise started. Here are our three picks:

At quarterback, you guessed it, Peyton Manning- Indianapolis Colts

Manning is the key to the Colts offense, not only and accurate passer but probably the games smartest quarterback. He has a knack of figuring out defensive schemes, when most quarterbacks figure it out on Monday morning; Manning can figure it out during the game, make the adjustments and beat you all in 60 minutes time. One of the keys to his success is he never gets rattled and he always plays with composure something that is most definitely needed if you are planning on starting a franchise, he would be a good cornerstone for your offense. (Honorable mentions: Drew Brees-New Orleans Saints, Tom Brady-New England Patriots, and Matt Schaub-Houston Texans)

At wide receiver, Larry Fitzgerald-Arizona Cardinals

The man has been blessed with the talent to play wide receiver, with his frame and his hands he is the prototypical wide receiver. Fitzgerald can make a play when there seems to be no play, you can throw the ball up and chances are he will come down with it in his hands. He is fearless, passes over the middle or in double coverage; Fitzgerald has one goal catch the football. Not only can he make things happen but he can also help teach those young receivers around the team how to be a professional on and off the field. (Honorable mentions: Andre Johnson-Houston Texans, Reggie Wayne-Indianapolis Colts and Wes Welker-New England Patriots)

At defensive captain, Patrick Willis-LB-San Francisco 49ers

This may be the most difficult to nail down with so many excellent defensive players out there, this was our pick. Patrick Willis is one of the best young line backers playing in the NFL today. Always around the football, makes huge tackles and is one of the fastest players on defense in the league. Although he is young, he is a sure fire leader on the field and he commands the defense like a line backer should when on and off the field. (Honorable mention: Darrelle Reavis-CB-New York Jets, Demarcus Ware-LB-Dallas Cowboys, and Robert Mathis-DE-Indianapolis Colts)

These are our three picks to begin a franchise; we know that there are many other players that could be used but these three are not bad to start in the league. Again maybe not your picks but you sure can’t go wrong with the ones that have been picked.
