Houston Texans All-Time Top 10
The Texans Top Ten Players
The Texans haven’t been around long, the former team in Houston was the Oilers with the likes of Warren Moon, Haywood Jefferies, Ernest Givins, etc… the list could go on and on but we are talking about the Texans in this article. Here are the top 10 players for the Houston Texans as we see it.
10. Jamie Sharper-LB
Sharper lead the team for a while with 436 tackles in 3 seasons that was a franchise record. Sharper was a tackling machine for the Texans he was great against the run and could play the pass with the best of them.
9. Kailee Wong-LB
Wong posted 15 sacks for the franchise and defended 33 passes and had 3 interceptions during his career. His best year for the Texans was 2004 when he accumulated 5.5 sacks, 3 interceptions, 1 forced fumble and a fumble recovery, Wong also racked up 51 tackles in that season.
8. Aaron Glenn-CB
Glenn spent 3 seasons with the Texans and during that time he managed 11 interceptions with 2 going back for touchdowns. Glenn, an undersized corner, also made 165 tackles in his time with the Texans. Glenn was an important part of the Texans, who really relied upon him when the secondary was struggling.
7. Dominick Davis-RB
Davis was the first true running back for the Houston Texans and he produced when called upon on. In his years with the Texans he had back to back 1000 yard seasons and was a great receiver out of the back field. Davis time was short as injuries played a big part in him missing time on the field.
6. Dunta Robinson-CB
Dunta has been a good corner for the Texans, in 2004 the best of his years he amassed 73 tackles, 6 interceptions and 3 forced fumbles. Robinson is a lengthy corner that can make exciting plays and has the talent to be a good corner in this league for a long time.
5. Owen Daniels-TE
Daniels is one of the up and coming superstars in the NFL. He is becoming well known in the state of Texas, and no longer being called ‘the other TE’. Daniels is the go to guy for Matt Schaub, and the Texans love to pass and the beneficiary is Daniels, before his injury last season he was on his way to a career season and I am sure he is looking forward to the new season.

4. Matt Schaub-QB
Houston was looking for a quarterback, and I think they have found one. With the debacle that was drafting David Carr with the first pick they have bounced back and brought in one of the top young quarterbacks in the league (he just doesn’t get the hype yet). Schaub to Johnson will be a connection you will hear for a very long time.
3. Demeco Ryans-LB
Ryans, out of the University of Alabama in his 5 years with the Texans has over 500 tackles with 400 being solo. He is a predator on the field seeking out anyone he can tackle, with his passion for the game and his relentless style he will be at the top of the Texans all time defensive list for a very long time.
2. Mario Williams-DE
This is the greatest story in the Texans’ short history. Labeled a bust on draft day and the wrong player taken, Williams in his past few seasons’ has come to play, showing that he was and is a great fit for the Houston Texans. Williams has worked hard and proven himself as a solid defensive end in the NFL, with a bright future the Texans are glad they took him with the first pick.
1. Andre Johnson-WR
Big, fast, and Strong; Andre Johnson is what teams are looking for in a wide receiver. Johnson has taken the state of Texas by storm, showing that he is quite possibly the best receiver in the game today. If you cover Johnson with a corner he will win with size, if you cover him with a line backer he will win with speed and if you double him he will win with strength; Johnson is the wide receiver you don’t want to see on a Sunday afternoon.
The Houston Texans are a young team with a wealth of talent and a desire to win. They will only get better as the team stays intact for years to come. With a few key pieces added on defense they will definitely make a run at a Super Bowl championship.
