Vikings Training Camp: Day One
It was a beautiful day in Mankato, Minnesota for the first day of Viking training camp.
QB battle: Tavaris Jackson looks like he will be the starter at this point. Even though it was the first day, he was taking most of the snaps with the first team. Jackson was very good on the short routes connecting with his receivers. When going deep, he still throws the high lobs which is not a good thing for the deep passing game. Sage Rosenfels didn’t really get a chance to do much. He threw some short stuff, but I didn’t see him throw any deep balls. John David Booty is third on the depth chart, and it looks like he will stay there. It is very early, but I give the edge to Jackson.

Other notable information:
-Sidney Rice dropped a lot of balls thrown his way. It may have just been the first day of rust.
-I welcomed Phil Loadholt to Mankato. He is a very, very large man. He looked great with the first team offensive line. He was hanging around Bryant McKinnie most of the day, and signed my football. The Vikings look like they have excellent book-end tackles.
-I ran into Chuck Foreman at the local pizza joint. #44 is doing well.
