Favre Talks to Childress
It has been reported from many sources that Brett Favre has had discussions with Brad Childress on Wednesday and resumes discussion about his future with the team today. In the sources, Favre is excited at the prospect of coming to Minnesota and is willing to have a minor procedure for his partially torn bicep that dimmed the lights of his 2008 season with the Jets.
In 2008 before the injury, a healthy Favre led a New York Jets team to an 8-3 record with 20 TDs and a 71% completion percentage. After the injury and a team defensive meltdown, the statistics aren’t so good.
Viking fans should be encouraged with the latest news. For those who are not fans of Brett Favre, the potential for a Viking depth chart at quarterback is vastly improved. Compare the veteran Favre, journeyman Sage Rosenfels, and underachieving Tavaris Jackson to a depth chart of just Rosenfels, Jackson, and last year’s project, John David Booty who currently wears the number 4. If the Minnesota Vikings are serious about taking a shot at greatness in 2009, a free acquisition of Favre with no trading or draft picks involved is an easy choice.
