Return to CarolinaAt the end of the season, the Carolina Panthers Owner told the Carolina fans to look forward to an active and productive off-season. The Panthers had stated that they were looking to find a good accommodation to their explosive receiver, Steve Smith. Well today the Panthers did just that, as they have agreed in principle to a two-year deal with the old Carolina fan-favorite, Mushin Muhammad, it was believed from the day that he was released by Carolina originally that he had interest in returning to his home town, where he still owns a home. With this acquisition, the Panthers will take pressure off Steve Smith and will look to get him the ball more this year, and they also bring back the Super Bowl receiving tandem.
The Panthers have also made a flurry of releases that will open up a lot of cap room, among these are ILB Dan Morgan and QB David Carr, and in addition to these releases, they wrapped up both free agents tackles to be Jordan Gross and slapped the Franchise tag on Travelle Wharton.
