Philadelphia Eagles 2008 NFL Season in Review The Philadelphia Eagles recovered from a slow start to the season to make a late drive to the postseason. They knocked off the Minnesota Vikings and defending champion New York Giants before being sent home for the year. Donovan McNabb stayed healthy for the year, and Brian Westbrook continued his excellent performance. DeSean Jackson emerged as the only true threat at wide receiver after Kevin Curtis and Reggie Brown were slowed by injuries. The defensive unit was strong all around, ranking 3 rd in the league in yardage and 4 th in points. The deep defensive corps shut down opponents' top receiving threats and Trent Cole and Darren Howard emerged as pass rushing weapons.
Philadelphia Eagles 2009 NFL Season Preview The Eagles will be looking to ride the momentum of their late year push and start out of the gates strong in 2009. They will be doing so without their team leader however, Brian Dawkins, who is now a member of the Denver Broncos. Considering the tenuous hold on the hearts and minds of Eagles fans that Donovan McNabb and Andy Reid hold, this could be a make or break year for both.
2009 Philadelphia Eagles Offense:The constant rumblings surrounding Donovan McNabb and his future in Philadelphia were quieted at a bit after the strong finish to the season. He should have a versatile set of weapons to work with this season with the drafting of Jeremy Maclin and the return of DeSean Jackson. The team also provided McNabb with improved protection, by acquiring two top level offensive tackles. If Brian Westbrook stays healthy and returns successfully from off season surgery the team could have one of the best offenses in the league and could emerge as a serious threat in the postseason.
2009 Philadelphia Eagles Defense:The defense has a hole to fill both physically and mentally with the departure of Brian Dawkins. However, the secondary is still deep and talented. The young linebackers, including Stewart Bradley and Akeem Jordan will need to show that last year wasn't a fluke and they can consistently play good football, especially in the NFC East which is packed with premier running backs.
2009 Philadelphia Eagles Prediction: 2nd in NFC East
