2010 NFL Preview > Atlanta Falcons Preview2010 Atlanta Falcons Football Preview
Head Coach: Mike Smith 2009 Record: 9-7 (2nd place in NFC South) Pro Bowlers: Roddy White (WR)
2009 Review:In the 2008 season the Falcon found great success going 11-5 with Matt Ryan at the quarterback spot and Michael Turner running the ball. There hopes were that in 2009 they would have the same fortune just with better results, unfortunately it didn’t happen for the Falcons. The Falcons Michael Turner is the back that carries most of the load he is a bruising tailback that can make the big plays, Matt Ryan is a smart young talent at quarterback and will led this team for many years to come, Roddy White has become the big play receiver for the Falcons making it to the Pro Bowl in 2009. The Falcons understood that in the 2009 season they were missing a few keys to getting better and when they brought in tight end Tony Gonzalez from Kansas City they thought they had found the key to moving one step closer to the championship. The Falcons were a young team at wide receiver and quarterback and all of which have a wealth of talent that they put on display. In 2009 injuries really plagued the Falcons, in all honesty the Falcons are a lot better than the 9-7 record they accumulated in ’09 and they plan to show it in 2010. The key for the Falcons in ’10 is to have a steady defensive team on the field and to see if they can avoid those key injuries, if the team is healthy they can contend.
2010 Preview:The focus for the Falcons in the offseason was to get better on defense, bringing over cornerback Dunta Robinson from the Texans was key to help man the weak secondary. Also in the draft hitting it big with linebacker Sean Weatherspoon who was a tackling machine at the University of Missouri will be a good solid presence for those teams who want to run against Atlanta. The offense in Atlanta if healthy may be one of the best balanced attacks in the league today. With the running of Michael Turner, the passing of Matt Ryan and the receiving of Roddy White and Tony Gonzalez the Falcons definitely have a chance to do big things in 2010.
2010 Prediction:Atlanta Falcons: 11-5 (2nd place in NFC South) playoffs
