2010 Cleveland Browns Schedule

2009 Review:

The Cleveland Browns really made strides late in the 2009 season but not as much as they had hoped. In 2008 the Browns finished with a 4-12 record and in 2009 the improved but only with one win more for a total of five. This season marked the seventh straight season that they had missed the playoffs tying a record for the ball club that was set in 1973-79. The Browns really had their struggles and it came at the quarterback position, Brady Quinn and Derek Anderson was the on again off again relationship at the QB position for the Browns. Everyone knows (or so I thought) that if you don’t have consistency at the key position of quarterback it will probably be a struggle for your team. In all honest the one big bright spot for the Browns on offense besides the play of tackle Joe Thomas, was the do it all wide receiver Joshua Cribbs he did everything (even play quarterback from time to time). During the season you could tell the Browns were trying to turn the tide but it didn’t stop the fans from calling for Mangini’s head. Trading Braylon Edwards was a move in the right direction so they can rebuild and do it from the ground up. For the Browns to get better they must have more on offense and finding a proven veteran quarterback to take the reigns is the first step and then finding some sure pass receivers to help the QB is on the to do list for the Browns in this off season.

2010 Preview:

The rebuilding has begun in Cleveland and it started when Mike Holmgren was introduced as the new team president and also the new general manager Tom Heckert was put in place. Eric Mangini’s job is safe and he will return for the 2010 season (for now) and out with the old, Brady Quinn and Derek Anderson are gone and in are Jake Delhomme from Carolina and Seneca Wallace from Seattle and they drafted gritty Texas quarterback Colt McCoy (in my opinion you could end up with another QB controversy if you are not careful). It is quite possible that Cleveland had the most turnover in the NFL, but they definitely did get better on the defensive side of the ball, the jury is still out on the offense. Jake Delhomme, if the starter, must improve on last seasons performance (which got him removed from Carolina), fact is the Browns must get better at wide receiver and they must have steady production from the running back position. I think Cleveland will improve on wins but they will need more pieces to make a serious run.

2010 Prediction:

Cleveland Browns: 8-8 (3rd place in AFC North)
