2010 Houston Texans Schedule

2009 Review:

You want instant offense look no further than the Houston Texans. Matt Schaub and Andre Johnson put on a show on the offensive side of the ball during the 2009 season. The offense of the Texans could and did compete with any team in the NFL but as we all know you can’t always out score the other team. Houston relied on the strength of passing the ball for much of the 2009 season, with targets like Andre Johnson and Owen Daniels, Matt Schaub was one of the top rated quarterbacks in the league. Unfortunately tight end Owen Daniels suffered a season ending injury and that slowed the fierce passing attack. On the other side of the ball the Texans have a solid set of young linebackers in DeMeco Ryans and Brian Cushing; both are fierce pass rushers and can make big plays to turn the game in their teams favor. If the Texans are looking to be a playoff contender next season they must find a running attack, it is true they do have Steve Slaton (who in my mind is a Thurman Thomas type who can run but his strength is in catching the ball) and they also have a young back out of the University of Tennessee Arian Foster who is looking to make a big splash. Fact is if they are going to contend they must establish their presence running because we all know what they can do when they throw the ball down the field.

2010 Preview:

In 2010 the Texans are looking to build on the progress they made in 2009 which was the teams first winning season in franchise history. The Texans narrowly missed the playoffs in ’09 but in this season they don’t want to just slide in they want to make a statement. With Matt Schaub at the quarterback position the Texans are looking to be successful for many seasons to come and if Andre Johnson stays healthy it is scary what they could do on offense. The big question is in the rushing game can they find a solid running attack to go with the scary passing game? If they can they will be a contender during this season. On the defensive side of the ball is where they want to get better in the draft they picked up Kareem Jackson a cornerback out of the University of Alabama to help patrol the secondary. The Texans may have been the best team not to have made the playoffs; I look for that to change this year.

2010 Prediction:

Houston Texans: 10-6 (2nd place in AFC South division) playoffs
