2010 NFL Preview > Miami Dolphins Preview2010 Miami Dolphins Football Preview
Head Coach: Tony Sparano 2009 Record: 7-9 (3rd place in AFC East) Pro Bowlers: Yeremiah Bell (CB), Dan Carpenter (K), Jake Long (OL) AP All Pros: Jake Long (2nd team)
2009 Review:It is amazing what a year can do, the Dolphins in 2008 were the reigning AFC east champions with an 11-5 record. It seemed as though 2009 would be more of the same, but inconsistency at the quarterback position played a big part in where the Dolphins ended the season. With a powerful running attack and two studs in the backfield in Ronnie Brown and Ricky Williams it looked as though Miami would run through the competition. The Dolphins found themselves being able to run on teams but they found it hard to pass, and teams stacked the box and waited for the strength of the Dolphins which was the running attack. Bill Parcels and the front office knew that during the off season they would need to bring in some help for the struggling passing game. For the Dolphins 7 wins is not acceptable and they will look to improve, and they wanted to bring an impact to the defensive side of the ball and also bring in a big name receiver but the questions still remain at the quarterback position.
2010 Preview:The new look Dolphins are ready to make a splash, releasing Joey Porter, Gibril Wilson, Reggie Torbor, and Akin Ayodele and signing Karlos Dansby an outstanding linebacker from the Arizona Cardinals and bringing over Brandon Marshall the do it all receiver from the Denver Broncos. The key for Miami is having the consistency at the quarterback position, so they brought in Chad Pennington the former Dolphin quarterback for this season and I am sure there will be a competition during the preseason for the starting job. So with Marshall in as the #1 wide receiver the Dolphins sent Ted Ginn Jr. packing to the 49ers for a 5th round draft pick, he was electrifying on kick offs but not on much else. So the new look Dolphins are hoping that the additions will help get them over the hump, but I think they will need to bring in a little more help, especially at the starting QB position. Great moves in the off season don’t always mean success on the field and this will be the case with the Dolphins this season.
2010 Prediction:Miami Dolphins: 8-8 (3rd place in AFC East)
