2010 NFL Preview > New York Giants Preview2010 New York Giants Football Preview
Head Coach: Tom Coughlin 2009 Record: 8-8 (3rd place in NFC East) Pro Bowlers: Shaun O’Hara (OL), Steve Smith (WR), Chris Snee (OL), David Diehl (OL) AP All-Pros: Chris Snee (2nd team)
2009 Review:The Giants had there struggles on the field as well as off the field, from off the field comments to questions about the head coach to the play on the field it was a difficult year for the G-men. It looked promising in the beginning, the Giants started the season 5-0 but in the next 11 games they went a bismil 3-8 causing many to call for Tom Coughlin’s job. The Giants had many bright spots, in light of the Plaxico Burress soap opera, the young wide receivers really stepped up Steve Smith made his first pro bowl and Mario Manningham really came into his own before injuries derailed his season. The Giants had their difficulties on defense as well losing many key players throughout the season and have a shaky secondary makes for a very difficult season. The offense must be more consistent with a stout running game, the passing game must find a way to do more to open up lanes for Brandon Jacobs and the only way for that to happen is to get better play from Eli Manning at the quarterback position. Eli has been inconsistent at best and the Giants are looking for stronger leadership and smarter decision from the young quarterback.
2010 Preview:New York is definitely looking to improve on the 8-8 record from last season, but in order to do so they must make moves in free agency. With the retirement of linebacker Antonio Pierce and the departure of Kevin Dockery and others on defense the key for them this off season was what else DEFENSE. The key moves for the Giants were bringing in free safety Antrel Rolle and safety Deon Grant to try and sure up that lacking secondary. In the draft they picked up a big pass rushing defensive end in South Florida’s Jason Pierre-Paul which can only make the pass rush stronger. Obviously the Giants are confident in Eli Manning (you can tell that by the contract he signed) so if the team is confident in you, your play must reflect that, so can Eli make it happen? With the receivers coming into their own and a strong running game, Eli must step up his game for the Giants to get back to the promise land.
2010 Prediction:New York Giants: 9-7 (3rd place in NFC East)
