2009 Review:What can we say about the New York Jets, definitely the surprise team of the NFL and of the playoffs. With his brash coaching style and his “hit them in the mouth” attitude, Rex Ryan changed the whole dynamic of what Jets football is all about. With Ryan coming over from the Ravens he brought his defensive style of smash mouth football over to the Jets. With the top defense in the league and a superior rushing attack that featured Thomas Jones and Shonn Greene the Jets arrival to playoff status was no surprise to the fiery coach. What the Jets lacked was a strong pass attack or even a consistent passing game, with rookie Mark Sanchez at the quarterback position it was an up hill battle many times due to the rookies mistakes. To help in the passing game the Jets brought over Braylon Edwards from the Cleveland Browns to add a weapon on offense and he paid dividends for the remainder of the regular season and into the playoffs. The Jets have had a busy off season trying to add to their success and only time will tell if the moves will pay off.
2010 Preview:Off with the old and on to the new, the Jets made an incredible playoff run with the personnel they had and now they have added Antonio Cromartie and traded Kerry Rhodes they also added Ladainian Tomlinson and released Thomas Jones (to be honest this one has me scratching my head) Thomas Jones was one of the most productive backs in the NFL last season but this move is strictly to promote Shonn Greene to the starting position, L.T. will be the 3rd down and situational back. The Jets with the off season moves have pushed themselves to the top of their division if they can keep the egos in check. As we all know when you have a team full of stars it can be hard work giving each one their praise. I think that if it is possible and if anyone can do it Rex Ryan will make it happen.
2010 prediction:New York Jets: 12-4 (1st place in AFC East) playoffs
