2010 Review: The San Francisco 49ers was a team in turmoil in the 2010 season. With a lot of in-fighting amongst players, coaches and staff the 49ers really finished better than most expected. With emerging stars like Frank Gore and Vernon Davis the team really looked as though they had a solid nucleus in place to make a run in the NFC but the key was solid play at the quarterback position which they did not have. At times they looked like an unstoppable team but at times they looked like a team without an identity. The 49ers are looking to turn it around in 2011 but signing key free agents and veterans will be a source of future success.
2011 Preview: With many key acquisitions during the shortened offseason the 49ers look poised to finish with a better record this season. The biggest addition is at the head coaching position bringing in former Stanford coach and NFL quarterback Jim Harbaugh; the focus will be on how well he can be assertive and how the players will respond to his coaching. The question for the 49ers, if it is another disappointing season, will be what did they do at the quarterback position and really they did nothing to improve their stance. Yes, they re-signed Alex Smith and yes they drafted Colin Kaepernick but did they do anything to see success this season? Harbaugh believes in Smith let’s hope the team shares his same feelings.
2011 Prediction: 7-9 (4th place in NFC West)
