2010 Review: The Redskins improved on their 2009 record which was 4-12, with starting quarterback Donovan McNabb the Redskins hoped to turn it around but it was not to be. It was a difficult time for Coach Shanahan and the Redskins team even before the season began, with the Haynesworth saga that played out almost everyday it made it hard for the Washington players to focus on the field of play. It didn’t get any better when Shanahan benched McNabb in favor of 2 nd string quarterback Rex Grossman, no doubt in 2010 the Redskins were a team in turmoil. The keys for Washington in 2011 is to get substantial better on offense by making key acquisitions and cutting ties with Haynesworth and with McNabb to start a fresh and anew.
2011 Preview: The Redskins were active in free agency during the shortened offseason, the team loaded up on secondary wide receivers bringing in Donte Stallworth and Jabar Gaffney. There was no movement on the quarterback front it looks as though they are set on allowing Rex Grossman to lead the team with John Beck and Kellen Clemens to back up. Bringing in Tim Hightower will help the running game but I am not sure that the offense can contend with the tougher teams in the East. It has officially started as Grossman is predicting that the Redskins will win the East, a really bold prediction considering they had no major moves to make them better. I believe the ‘skins, as last year, will be on the outside looking in they are in rebuilding mode and if they can get to 8 wins this year they must consider that a win for the team.
2011 Prediction: 7-9 (4th place in NFC East)
